Cotton fabrics
Cotton for shirts, dresses, and cut-and-sew programs
Woven cotton remains a core apparel fiber because hand, opacity, and finishing can be specified with relative clarity. Treat this page as a buying brief, not a reserved assortment.
Poplin, twill, canvas, and lawn are different constructions. Material options, specifications, quantities, and pricing are confirmed after review.
Typical varieties
Programs often ask for poplin or broadcloth shirtings, light twills, oxford, canvas, and sateen. Knit cotton belongs on the knit page when stitch structure defines the cloth.
Apparel use
Common cuts include shirts, dresses, lightweight trousers, uniforms, and some linings. Name the garment so weight and sett can be discussed.
Composition
100% cotton is frequent. Elastane is added when recovery matters. Cotton-polyester mixes appear when wrinkle or care performance is part of the brief.
GSM and width
Shirtings sit lighter; chino and work-adjacent cloths sit higher. Provide a target GSM and cuttable width if known. No house weight range is published as inventory.
Color and finishing
Piece-dyed solids, yarn-dyed grounds, prints, mercerizing, and easy-care resins change both look and sewability. State garment-dye intent if it applies.
Production notes
Watch shrinkage, seam slippage, and needle marks. Share any factory fabric notes already issued.
